Color as Structure
A Corbusier-Inspired Calendar
C-O-L-O-R.
Life is meant to be lived in color.
This is a theme I will be exploring more deeply over time, but for this piece, I want to look at how color can shape organization — and how that, in turn, creates harmony and ease.
For some, color can be a scary word. Neutrals have long been associated with refinement — reliable, considered, easy to revisit. And for some people, they work beautifully all the time. At times, for me too. But when everything lives on one plane, what we choose, create, and absorb tends to stay there. Opening ourselves up to color is often an opening into dimension — and that shift can make a meaningful impact on everything.
One simple example of this in practice:
I was recently inspired by Kerrilynn Pamer, founder and CEO of CAP Beauty, who shared how she uses Le Corbusier’s color palette to organize her calendar.
The image alone hooked me.

As someone who loves pen to paper, I will never give up my paper sources — nor do I want to. That said, digital organization is incredibly efficient and effective as well. For me, the two work in tandem.
Still, if I’m being completely honest, I have always felt a little detached from Google Calendar. I have it and use it, but it never fully resonated with me — at least not in the way I wanted it to. I think part of that came down to a lack of emotional resonance and cohesion, with color playing a major role.
You can edit and customize a Google Calendar to your liking, but what stood out to me about Le Corbusier’s color palette is the depth of thought behind it. Each color is chosen in relationship to the others, working together to create harmony rather than visual noise. The palette evokes specific moods, defines space, and subtly shapes perception — principles originally rooted in architecture, but applicable far beyond it. Here, color isn’t just decoration. It’s a tool.
When organization is the goal, clarity matters — and so does a sense of calm. I want to open my calendar and feel not only excited about what’s ahead, but grounded by it. Color has the power to do that.
So, I made a switch. I spent time reorganizing my calendar and color-coding it with intention. And I must say, I have noticed a drastic difference — for the better.
Dare I even say, I genuinely enjoy not only looking at my calendar, but interacting with it as well. There is an emotional element present that wasn’t there before, and I value that.
Time is seen through a different lens — one shaped by coherence and beauty.
Everyone has their own systems that work for them. But if you’re feeling stuck, or sensing a need for change, think about color — and the ways you might incorporate it into your life to bring not only clarity, but ultimately joy.
x,
Caroline
